Terry is a Berkeley native, and self-taught artist with 20 years of painting experience. Many of her themes reflect her Hawai'ian heritage, and her love of, and fascination with, faces - human and animal both. Terry is inspired by the islands - the sky, the ocean, and the people who are part of her ancestry. Hawai'i evokes a unique feeling of home for her and she often uses this influence to create impressions within a canvas. She is also inspired by the portrayal of deities in totem and maskwork from indigenous cultures.
She utilizes acrylic paints on canvas, and enjoys using predominantly bright, vivid colors. Fanciful and eccentric figures dominate the landscape, often with stories interwoven into the fabrics of the walls, windows, and characters themselves. She has two cats, Pumpkin and Bean, both patchwork tortoiseshell kitties who love their Mom's work.
